General code cleanup by Roberto Nibali:
- linking for dlopen() needs to be after the object generation
- fix small typo in Rules.make.in
- #ifdef DEBUG all functions that are not used
- add missing #include's
- fix sloppy braceing
- added return for 'int main()'
